Radio Communications of California, Inc. dba RADICAL is an Internet Service Provider for businesses, municipalities, health care facilities and other enterprises that require true broadband and desire a secure private alternative to legacy telco internet communication service. 

What is the Radical Network?

The RADICAL Network is a privately built hybrid network of fiber optic, laser link and millimeter-wave radio technologies, bringing direct high-speed broadband internet service to businesses, public agencies, and home-based entrepreneurs throughout the Coachella Valley. 

RADICAL’s “fixed wireless” service is delivered over our private mesh network with built-in redundancy, solar-powered battery backup, and proactive monitoring to guarantee superior performance and reliability for your organization.

Speeds begin at 200 Mbps and can run up to 10 Gbps and beyond. 

How does fixed wireless broadband work?

Using stationary wireless access points to beam connectivity directly to a facility, a fixed wireless connection forgoes the need for any physical cabling in favor of wireless connectivity “point-to-point”. 

RADICAL’s fixed wireless network uses laser link and industry leading radio technology that operate at wavelengths that enable longer distances and higher speeds than ever before.   

Each RADICAL client has a unique point-to-point wireless connection to the RADICAL core network and our internet Point of Presence (PoP) gateway located at our central office.

Springs area?

Current areas of focus are Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indian Wells and Coachella, with roll out valley wide continuing in 2022.

RADICAL was founded by a group of business owners who saw the need for a better business specific internet option and have spent decades working as philanthropic and community-minded business leaders in the broadband, real estate, entertainment, and alternative energy sectors.

In doing, protect and safeguard our clients from malicious threats, virus, malware, ransomeware as well as corporate or governmental overreach, while never allowing artificial intelligence (AI) to trump the importance of human ingenuity and creativity.  

Offering a proximity based, private alternative connection to the internet takes skill sets and aspirations rooted in the long-term benefits for all the stakeholders. In the case of RADICAL, this includes the clients’ and their customers but also the communities we serve. 

What is RADICAL doing to help unserved and underserved communities?

RADICAL believes that for a community to be healthy and competitive in today’s society, broadband needs to be available to everyone.   

So while the primary focus of RADICAL is to inspire its clients to do great things over its fast and reliable broadband network, we have built out our core network capacity to assist in reaching the underserved – and even unserved – whether they be individuals or communities left behind as a whole.

What broadband speeds are available?

With an unlimited capacity from our core POP, we offer extremely high-speed service rivaling that of fiber and surpassing cable.

Currently we are offer symmetrical broadband speeds range from 200 Mbps for our WORK/LIFE NET clients and up to 10 Gbps for our ENTERPRISE NET customers.  All service levels are guaranteed and scalable so as your needs change so can your bandwidth.  

How does the RADICAL Network speed compare to what is currently available?

We aim to be faster in raw broadband capacity but also in network functionality and performance. 

Traditional networks have evolved with a primary focus of download speeds and streaming services to end consumers.  Our network is fundamentally different in that it is built specifically for business applications that require equally balanced upload and download speeds.

How much does it cost?

Our monthly service fee is straight forward $1 dollar per megabit.  So a symmetrical 400 megabits per second service will be $400 per month.

Installation costs vary depending on the scope of the work, level of service and the length of the service contract.   

Is my data secure? Will it be sold or provided to third parties?

One of the founding principles of RADICAL is to be your trusted networking partner.  Protecting our clients’ data, privacy, and cybersecurity is critical to that end. We believe that your data is your private property and will never sell it or allow it to be compromised.  Further, we treat all data, regardless of service level, equally and with the same level of protection. 

Please note that most security breaches and cyber-attacks enter via erroneously shared email and passwords.  Here is a list of helpful hints to make sure you are practicing safe internet protocols.

How is the ongoing reliability of the RADICAL Network uptime and performance ensured?

Fixed wireless internet has uptimes exceeding 99.999%, which makes it more reliable than a legacy leased line. This makes it perfect for mission-critical applications.

What level of latency can be expected in the RADICAL Network?

Our fixed wireless network reduces the number of hops on the network thereby reducing latency to sub millisecond across the board. Further the proprietary construction of our network over a legacy copper, coax and fiber makes our network faster.  In the end we are a faster network and better preforming with lower latency.

What are the extra benefits of using RADICAL to organizations with multiple local facilities?

Utilizing our Local Radio Area Network and SD-WAN, clients with multiple locations can network privately without needing to transmit data over the world wide web.  

This is good for speed and security as the private network operates at gigabit speeds regardless of what service level agreement you are subscribing to.

Taking advantage of RADICAL’s server colocation and private cloud services, clients can also run its own IT services and server applications on the same local private network.

Are there any geographic and/or physical obstacles that would prevent service from being available?

Utilizing our hybrid network of fiber, laser, and fixed wireless connectivity options we have excellent probability of reaching all business clients in our designated service areas.   

That said, obstructions and/or lack of fiber do prohibit service from time to time and therefore we confirm the viability of service on a case-by-case basis. 

What equipment do I need? 

Equipment needs vary for each network service level, however a small exterior on-Premises Node to send and receive the signal will be required, as well as an ethernet cable from the on-Premises Node to our interior RADICAL router.

How long does it take for installation of service after placing an order?

As a fixed wireless internet provider, RADICAL has no streets to trench or cable to pull. We can set up a gigabit connection to your business in days, not weeks, month or years.

Can RADICAL provide service to residential customers like country clubs/HOAs?

Yes.  There are multiple options for communities and HOA’s.   This generally falls into an Enterprise Net client with Gig speeds to the clubhouse, area Wi-Fi availability, and redistribution of signal via point- to-point and point-to-multipoint connectivity to residences within the community needing WORK/LIFE connectivity. 

Thus, our service serves the greater community and individual home-based entrepreneurs and telecommuters alike.

Is customer support locally based and readily available?

YES.  All customer support is based within the Coachella Valley.
