Why RADICAL Is Different?
Chances are you are not here by accident.
You want a fast internet connection for your business or enterprise but you,
To understand how RADICAL and fixed wireless fits into the equation we offer the following breakdown to summarize the options to the World Wide Web and some pros and cons of each.
I. HOW AM I CONNECTED?
Internet service was able to grow relatively quickly by using the existing infrastructure of telephone wire and cable company coax. And while networking over these legacy lines is not optimal for speed and performance, it offered a better and nothing connection that we all started our journey and internet behavior from. With the tremendous time and cost to deploy new fiber optic connections to every end user, many are left with this less-than-optimal connections. In short, if you’re relying on a legacy Telco for your “last mile” connection, it is copper, coax, or if lucky a fiber optic connection.
Mobile carriers have entered the business space by offering a “fixed wireless” option where a receiving node is set up on the exterior of the structure and then the signal is redistributed via a wired and/or wireless routing. This connection utilizes the same 4G or 5G network that is used for mobile devices and thus is only appropriate for modest business applications. While dependent on signal strength and varying network traffic, this could be a lifesaver for businesses who struggle with their poor or nonexistent Telco wired connection.
While deep space satellites have provided low bandwidth connectivity to remote areas for years, low orbiting satellites are currently being deployed to circle the globe in mass to provide uninterrupted worldwide internet connectivity. A roof top dish is needed to send and receive the signal. With decent download speeds and lackluster upload speeds this is primary being sold to rural residential clients that have no better option.
Fixed wireless offers internet connectivity via point-to-point radio links. Traditionally a low-speed option for unserved rural areas. However, with the opening of available radio spectrum and advances in radio technologies, fixed wireless is moving to more urban areas as it can now compete with fiber in offering gigabit bandwidth speeds while being faster and less costly to deploy.
II. WHAT AM I CONNECTED TO?
A. Telco.
As the monopoly and imbedded go to we are all too familiar with this behemoth type network of millions of users and devices. The infrastructure is a mixture of underground and above ground copper, coax and fiber optic runs, some state of the art, some antiquated, and all part of a large over prescribed machine.
B. Mobile Network:
The 5G carriers own specific licensed spectrum allowing their customers to receive signal to a specify low frequency network. As a mobile carrier the number of connections on one tower at the same time is ever changing which can cause performance variations for the end user. Much like the Telco’s, the network from a cell tower to the internet Point of Presence is above and below ground backhaul fiber runs.
C. Satellite
The network is linked via client to satellite then satellite to ground gateway locations, and then fiber backhauls from the gateway locations to internet Point of Presence. It is anticipated that tens of thousands of low orbit satellites will ultimately be deployed to offer uninterrupted coverage. Dubbed the “sky train” this is a truly global perspective on providing internet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgysWWwESfU
D. Fixed Wireless.
In our case, your connection is a local point-to-point fixed wireless or laser link connection to our private Palm Springs based Point of Presence. The entire network is built from the ground up for Gigabit speed using efficient IPV6 protocol, with solar and battery backed up network nodes for always on connectivity.
III. WHEN CAN I CONNECT
IV. WHO AM I DOING BUSINESS WITH?
A. Telco:
A numbers game and content distribution from top down. Focus on download speeds and content packages mostly geared to lucrative residential market.
|
B. Mobile:
Mobile, by design, is handheld in focus as well as tracking and geolocation advertising to guide purchasing, social app sharing and location conveniences.
C. Satellite.
Massive investment to cover the worlds communication under a single company’s network.
D. Fixed Wireless
Your local, private option. A gigabit network with business class symmetrical connectivity, industry specific services and local customer service.
V. WHY
While we really can’t know why the Telco’s or the Mobile Carriers want to offer your company or enterprise internet connection, we can guess by the products they offer, the service that they don’t give, the prices they charge, and the speed in which they upgrade their networks it’s primarily about profit.
As a group of business owners who had been forced to accept this as our primary conduit to our online data, our clients, and the World Wide Web, we felt it could be done better, or rather it had to be better.
As fundamental as a businesses’ connection to the World is, it defies logic that it would be left solely to behemoth corporations that seemingly care less about their clients, their clients’ clients or their privacy or data.
We are here to look out for you, your data and your connection to the internet. To be your trusted network partner looking out for your online presence, while offering services specific to your industry specific needs.
An Internet Service Provider that cares about you and your business. That is RADICAL.
